FAQ – Welsh Retreat

Who are Welsh Retreat?

Welsh Retreat is a family‑run collection of cosy holiday cottages and a spacious barn on the Cardigan Bay coastline in West Wales.

We specialise in relaxed, near‑the‑sea stays close to coastal walks, sandy beaches and the best of West Wales.

Where are your holiday cottages?

Our properties are in West Wales around Cardigan Bay, with cottages and a barn close to Cardigan, Tresaith and Aberporth.

You’re within easy reach of the Ceredigion Coast Path, Blue Flag beaches such as Tresaith, and family‑friendly Aberporth Beach.

What properties do you offer?

  • Hollytree Cottage – a cosy cottage on the Penrallt Estate near Aberporth, sleeping up to 4 guests.

  • Clos Yr Hendy Lodge – a cosy lodge at Clos Yr Hendy near Tresaith Beach, ideal for couples and sleeping 2.

  • Clos Yr Hendy Barn – a large converted barn with a warm log burner and snug, sociable living spaces, sleeping up to 12.

Each property has its own character, but all are designed for relaxed coastal escapes in Cardigan Bay.

What are your check‑in and check‑out times?

Check‑in is from 3pm and check‑out is by 10am.

These times help us get everything clean, cosy and ready for you and the next guests.

Is there a minimum stay?

Yes – we have a two‑night minimum stay, which may vary by season and around peak school holiday dates.

For specific dates and offers, just pop your preferred stay into our booking calendar.

Are your properties pet friendly?

All of our properties are pet‑friendly, with a small additional charge per stay (full details are shown on the bookings page).

We simply ask that dogs stay off the sofas and beds, and that you clean up after them outside so the next guests arrive to spotless gardens and grounds.

What’s included in my stay?

As standard, we include free Wi‑Fi, all bed linen, towels, a starter supply of logs for the fire (where applicable), on‑site parking and a small welcome pack so you can put the kettle on as soon as you arrive.

Each property is fully equipped for self‑catering coastal breaks in West Wales.

What do I need to bring?

Please bring your own beach towels for days on the sand, as we only provide indoor towels.

You may also want to pack any specific baby items or favourite beach gear you like to use on holiday.

Are you family friendly?

Yes – Clos Yr Hendy Barn is particularly family‑friendly, with space for everyone to relax together after days exploring Cardigan Bay.

The surrounding area offers child‑friendly sandy beaches, rock pools and easy coastal walks between Aberporth and Tresaith.

How do I book?

We always recommend booking direct on our website at welshretreat.co.uk for the best experience and to speak directly with us as the owners.

Our cottages are also listed on major platforms such as Airbnb and Booking.com if you prefer to book that way.

What are your payment and cancellation terms?

Our deposit, balance payment timings and cancellation policy are set out clearly in our website Terms & Conditions, which you’ll see during the booking process and in your confirmation email.

If you need to cancel or amend your stay, contact us as soon as possible and we’ll guide you through the options based on those T&Cs.

Why stay on the Cardigan Bay coast?
